I watched UFC 101: Declaration yesterday at Outback Libis during the Balls Channel and Colt 45 viewing party, and had a great time with my friends Don Herana and Alex Villafania.
As I said in my previous post, I’m a big fan of Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champ Anderson Silva and I knew he would beat former light heavyweight king Forrest Griffin, but man, even I didn’t think it would be so easy for Silva!
Silva, who moved up a class again to fight for the second time in the light heavyweight division, made Griffin look like an amateur inside the octagon en route to knocking out the former champ at 3: 23 of the first round.
It was an unbelievable performance by Silva, who about midway in the fight dropped his hands and just evaded Griffin’s punches with head movements.

I’m a huge fan of Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva, so I’m really looking forward to UFC 101: Declaration, where Silva will once again move up a weight class to fight the former light heavyweight champ (and Ultimate Fighter Season 1 winner) Forrest Griffin.

Silva was once considered by some as the best pound for pound mixed martial arts fighter in the world. The UFC middleweight champ, however, has gotten a lot of flak after two title defenses where he seemed bored by the challengers and turned it what critics felt where lackluster performances, particularly his most recent fight against Thales Leites.
Silva is now expected to be motivated since Griffin is a former light heavyweight champ. While I’ve never been a fan of Griffin and some MMA aficionados still don’t consider him an elite fighter, you’ve got to give him his due as he’s beaten the likes of Maurico “Shogun” Rua and, of course, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson — the man Griffin dethroned to become the light heavyweight champ, before losing in his first title defense against Rashad Evans.
