New year. New decade. New job.

I love blogging for CNET Asia, and I’ve always considered it a privilege to be part of this blog network. Seems like it was only yesterday when I was part of the first batch of CNET Asia bloggers when this network debuted back in 2006. This, however, will be my last post for Babelmachine, as I embark on a new online adventure as the social media editor of Yahoo! Philippines.

Manny Pacquiao not only made history Sunday as the first boxer to win seven world championships in seven weight classes, but the Filipino regarded as the world’s best pound for pound fighter also ruled cyberspace.

As I blogged yesterday while live tweeting the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto encounter, Manny Pacquiao became the top Twitter Trending Topic along with several other Pacquiao-related keywords.

Here’s an excerpt from my CNET Asia blog post.

Like many Filipino Internet users, I’m online now sharing updates on the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto: Firepower boxing clash on social networks such as Twitter. As you might expect, the number of people tweeting about Pacquiao has made the world’s best pound for pound boxer a Top Trending Topic, namely his nickname, Pacman.

In fact, I’m watching the boxing card right now via Smart 3G on my Nokia N82 while blogging this and tweeting updates.
