Ironically, rumors of an affair with a sexy young actress may have done more to hurt boxing’s pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao than tough erstwhile welterweight champion Miguel Cotto.
A number of Filipino Internet users are expressing their support for Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee and outrage at the alleged affair with starlet Krista Ranillo, to the point of creating a #teamjinkee hashtag on Twitter (others have also created #teamkrista and the more tongue-in-cheek #teamdionisia, referring to Pacquiao’s mother).
Manny Pacquiao not only made history Sunday as the first boxer to win seven world championships in seven weight classes, but the Filipino regarded as the world’s best pound for pound fighter also ruled cyberspace.
As I blogged yesterday while live tweeting the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto encounter, Manny Pacquiao became the top Twitter Trending Topic along with several other Pacquiao-related keywords.
Like many Filipino Internet users, I’m online now sharing updates on the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto: Firepower boxing clash on social networks such as Twitter. As you might expect, the number of people tweeting about Pacquiao has made the world’s best pound for pound boxer a Top Trending Topic, namely his nickname, Pacman.
In fact, I’m watching the boxing card right now via Smart 3G on my Nokia N82 while blogging this and tweeting updates.
Like many Filipinos, I’m eagerly awaiting the epic clash this Sunday, Nov. 15 (Saturday, Nov. 14 in the US) between boxing’s pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and dangerous Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.
