Here’s an excerpt.

Wow, I knew My Brute had gone viral and become the latest online craze, but I didn’t expect to see a Facebook ad which I just stumbled upon.

I guess this shows that many Filipinos have been signing up for My Brute. Funny thing is that the Facebook ad points to the account of a player who has a–get this–a Level 33 Brute, and if you look at this Brute’s cell, you’ll see that this player already has 3,019 pupils as of this writing.

I beat pro gamer Grubby–in My Brute, OK, not Warcraft III

I did it — twice!

Here’s an excerpt from my CNET Asia blog post.

Can you beat my Brute? Check out the latest online craze

Apr 09 2009 Published by Joey Alarilla under Gaming

Here’s an excerpt from my CNET Asia blog post.

For some reason, this Flash fighting game called My Brute has become an online craze. I’m not sure why it suddenly became popular yesterday, but Plurk users here in the Philippines started posting links to the Brutes they had created.

It’s a simple game that can easily get you hooked. You create a fighter, called a Brute, to fight other Brutes.  When you challenge other players, you don’t even have to do anything once the fight starts. Matches are automatically resolved based on your Brute’s stats and weapons. The game is viral because if you recruit people to become your pupils, you earn experience points per new recruit and whenever your pupil gains a level. Sounds like MLM or a pyramid scheme, huh?
