Today is a historic day, as the Philippines held its first automated elections. Been liveblogging the whole day for our Purple Thumb election site. Join the live blog at http://bit.ly/pthumblive

Here’s an excerpt from my blog post.
Trust Filipinos to have a sense of humor even in the face of delays and long lines of voters as the Philippines held its first automated elections today.
On Twitter, a spoof account at http://twitter.com/pcosmachine pokes fun at the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines that have been used in the automated polls. Throughout the day, in scenes repeated at different precincts around the country, around 386 PCOS machines experienced different technical glitches. Some overheated, while others suffered from paper jams. Others had CF cards that were wrongly configured. For one reason or another, a number of these machines suffered breakdowns. Suffice it to say that the acronym PCOS, which even became a top Trending Topic on Twitter, did not exactly endear itself to many Filipinos.

Good luck! It's been a long journey to achieve such a great feat.
