The keynote speaker is world-renowned Web and digital marketing strategist Jeremiah Owyang. Ken Mandel, Yahoo! Vice President of Advertising Sales and Marketplace for APAC, will give a talk on digital thoughts and trends.

On Aug. 12, my boss Alan Soon announced my promotion, just before I gave my presentation on our regional social content strategy. So yup, it’s official: my new position is Head of Social Content Strategy for Southeast Asia of Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

As Smitty a.k.a. dreampipe said, I’m going to have to get bigger business cards, heh.

I was in Singapore at the time, and Filipino blogger and journalist Tonyo Cruz called me up from Manila to conduct a phone interview and quickly publish this story on AsianCorrespondent.com.

Trust Filipinos to have a sense of humor even in the face of delays and long lines of voters as the Philippines held its first automated elections today.

On Twitter, a spoof account at http://twitter.com/pcosmachine pokes fun at the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines that have been used in the automated polls. Throughout the day, in scenes repeated at different precincts around the country, around 386 PCOS machines experienced different technical glitches. Some overheated, while others suffered from paper jams. Others had CF cards that were wrongly configured. For one reason or another, a number of these machines suffered breakdowns. Suffice it to say that the acronym PCOS, which even became a top Trending Topic on Twitter, did not exactly endear itself to many Filipinos.

The only other handset that has a similar combo I’ve tried is the Google Nexus One (though with v2.1 Android in it). The unit comes in two variants – the white one and the black one. I bought the white one for this review.

The Xperia X10 was designed with great attention to detail and though the body is constructed from some kind of polymer (read: plastic), the white glossy finish and hefty weight gives it a ceramic appeal. It’s not very slim (13mm) but the somewhat curved edges gives it a slim impression. I’m not too sure about that silver-lined accent on the sides though.
